CORTLAND NY - Sustainable Living Tour this Saturday!

Tour features: The North home is an earth-bermed, passive solar design with a greenhouse, and solar hot water. Their back up heat (other than the sun) is a wood cook stove in their kitchen.
Hewes and Livingston home is a straw bale insulated house, that uses passive solar heat as well. They use a wood stove as a back up heat system.
They also have a greenhouse attached to the house, and a root cellar and cheese caves built into the basement.
They also have a solar hot water system to heat hot water in the summer.
