Wyalusing¹s North Branch Triathlon is entering its fifth successful year as
a fun-filled outdoor event during the peak of fall foliage season. This
event takes place along the beautiful Susquehanna River in Bradford County
on Saturday, October 6 and dovetails with the North Branch Arts Festival and
Art Trail on the Columbus Day weekend, with events between Wilkes-Barre,
Wyalusing and other nearby towns.

The North Branch Triathlon starts with a 4.5-mile run, followed by the
canoe/kayak section with a 4.6-mile down-river paddle, and completed by a
15.3 (mostly flat) bike course. The event is sponsored by the Greater
Wyalusing Chamber of Commerce (GWCC) and is organized and operated by an
all-volunteer staff to benefit the GWCC. This year there are several changes
from the previous North Branch Triathlons to make the event more enjoyable
and accessible. Firstly the cost has been reduced by $10 bringing the
pre-registration fee to $35 for individuals and $30 for each member of a
team. The pre-registration deadline is Friday, September 14, (after this
date the fee goes up $5). Registering by this date will allow for efficient
processing of the applications and for the participants to receive a special
race packet with information about boat rentals, arts festival
entertainment, lodging, map and tickets for free chicken Barbeque. The
second change is the online registration, now available through the GWCC web
site at www.wyalusing.net. The third addition to the event is the GWCC¹s
list of potential participants who would like to enter the event, but who
wish not to do all three parts, hence they are looking to join a team. So,
for those who wish to join a team, please contact the GWCC. And the final
change to the Tri is the consolidation of categories to make the entire
event recreational in nature. The category break down by age, gender and
team remains as in previous years.
