AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH, the successful and controversial film by about
global warming, will be shown Friday, October 6th at 7:00 pm in St. Paul's
United Methodist Church at the corner of Aurora and Court Streets in Ithaca.

The event is free and open to the public.

For more information about the film, see www.climatecrisis.net After the
screening, a panel of scientists and alternative energy specialists will
discuss the film. Speakers will include local residents who have installed
solar electric generation systems, geothermal heating and cooling, and
windmill power generation.

Critical reaction to the film has been extremely positive in both left and
right media. At the 2006 Sundance Film Festival, the movie received a
three-time standing ovation. It was the most popular Documentary at the 2006
Brisbane International Film Festival, and it has grossed over $23 million as
of September 6, 2006, making it the third-highest-grossing documentary in
the U.S. to date. Film critics Roger Ebert and Richard Roeper gave the film
"two thumbs up". Ebert wrote: "In 39 years, I have never written these words
in a movie review, but here they are: You owe it to yourself to see this
film. If you do not, and you have grandchildren, you should explain to them
why you decided not to."

Event organizers explained that there is a growing sense of responsibility
in faith-based communities to actively tackle the global warming issue -- a
crisis that is creating social, environmental, and financial threats that
demand attention from any organization that is driven by core values of
morality and stewardship.

According to David Remnick in The New Yorker magazine, "An Inconvenient
Truth" is a brilliantly lucid, often riveting attempt to warn Americans off
our hellbent path to global suicide. "An Inconvenient Truth" is not the most
entertaining film of the year. But it might be the most important."

The free public screening of Al Gore's film was arranged through New York
Interfaith Power and Light www.nyipl.org and a national network of congregations and
faith-based organizations that promote stewardship of the earth through
energy conservation, energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy. The
book, "An Inconvenient Truth", and related publications will be available onsite
from The Bookery. Information will be available on how to purchase
wind-generated power as part of the normal electric service provided by
NYSEG.
