Hello Friends,

From November 25-December 4 I will be taking part in a Sustainable Agriculture Research Delegation in Cuba. On Sunday, November 5 we will be having a benefit dinner to help with the cost of the trip.

The Delegation will be meeting with Agriculture Ministry officials, visiting cooperative and privately owned farms, and meeting with community project leaders involved in urban agriculture. The purpose of this delegation is to examine a country whose agriculture is primarily organic. With the collapse of the Soviet Bloc, Cuba was no longer able to obtain many of the chemical fertilizers and pesticides that they were accustomed to using. At that point, the country turned to organic agriculture.

The Delegation has been organized by Global Exchange. Global Exchange is a non-profit international human rights organization. Their programs include: Human rights, social and economic rights, fair trade, reality tours and public education. The delegation that I am participating in is one of the many reality tours that they offer. For more information on Global Exchange visit: www.globalexchange.org

Please join us on Sunday, November 5 at 6:00pm for a Dinner to support this delegation to Cuba. The meal will be served at the Eco-Village common house in the Frog neighborhood. Jen Bokaer-Smith offered to cook a meal to help support me on this trip. We are asking for a donation of $10-$20 per person, or whatever you can afford (all donations are tax deductible.) The meal will include salad, main dish, dessert and apple cider. All donated by West Haven Farm.

RSVP Jen at 272-4636 You can also rsvp or get directions if you need them from me at this e-mail garberson@hotmail.com or call me at 277-0172.

Thank You ,
Amy
