Henrie, Manning and Friends at Felicia’s Atomic Lounge
Date: Friday, May 9th, 2008
Time: 5:30pm-8:30pm
Website: Click Here
Genre: bluegrass and string swing
Price: FREE
Henrie, Manning and Friends is an acoustic trio playing high energy music in the bluegrass tradition. The band features the flatpicking guitar playing of Bobby Henrie, fiddling of Rick Manning and bass accompaniment of Doug Henrie. Bobby is best known to Ithaca music fans and dancers for his rockabilly and swing playing in Bobby Henrie and the Goners and Tres Swing. His musical roots are found in bluegrass music and the stylings of Doc Watson. Rick Manning and Bobby played for years together in Cornerstone, one of Ithaca’s favorite bluegrass and acoustic country bands of the 90’s. Rick plays fiddle and mandolin around town and the region for the Contradictions and the BowSox. Doug Henrie is well known for his bass playing in the Woodshed All Stars, Tres Swing, and of course in the Henrie Brothers with Bobby and other siblings.

Hello all,
The biweekly Ithaca bluegrass jam will meet at Longview again this Friday, May 9 at the *new time* of 6:30. (Most participants haven't been able to make it at 6:00, so I thought we should try a later start time).
For those of you who haven't been up to Longview yet, it is a nice retirement community just off of Rte. 96B. The residents look forward to each of our jams. From downtown Ithaca you'll want to head up the hill towards Ithaca College. Less than a mile beyond the main entrance for Ithaca College (which will be on your left), you will see a driveway and a sign on your right for Longview. There is a visitor parking lot at the end of the driveway. If you go in the main entrance, the jam is held in a large entertainment room down the main hallway and to the left.
This is a casual jam where we typically form a circle, suggest tunes, and take a turn soloing if we feel like it. All skill levels are welcome, and feel free to bring along extra audience members as well as musicians!
Keep on pickin'!

Hello all,
The biweekly Ithaca bluegrass jam will meet at Longview again this Friday, May 23 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. I'll be out of town most of the day and will probably be late, but I'm going to try to make it.
After this week's Longview jam, the next one (June 6) will be at Stewart Park in Ithaca.

Hi folks,
Come on out to our first Ithaca Bluegrass Jam at *STEWART PARK* for the year (not Longview) in Ithaca this Friday, June 6, 6:30-8:30 pm by the main pavilion. Typically we've jammed either at the picnic tables by the lake near the pavilion, or the tables behind the selfsame pavilion.
Directions: Take Rte 13 to Ithaca and get off at the Stewart Park exit. Follow the signs to the park; when I get to the entrance I take a right and park in the lot by the lake shore. The large pavilion is straight ahead. If the lot is full, there should be other spaces as you circle back around to other parts of the park.
Feel free to bring along some ice-cold beverages, snacks, family and friends! This is a beginner-friendly jam, but the more experienced players enjoy it as well. We'll plan to keep meeting at Stewart Park for the summer, true to tradition.
Keep on pickin',

Hi all,
Many of you are already familiar with how to navigate to Stewart Park during the Ithaca Festival, but for those of you who aren't, and were thinking of driving to the jam on Sunday, I wanted to mention that there's no parking at Stewart Park. One option is to park near a TCAT bus stop and grab a TCAT bus (like #13), which you can ride for free if you already have an Ithaca Festival button. My current plan is to park at Pyramid Mall and ride the #13 (with fewer instruments in tow than I usually haul around with me ).
Here are some maps from the Festival site that may be helpful: http://ithacafestival.typepad.com/ithaca_festival/maps.html
You could also have someone drop you off close to the park, or you may be able to find parking somewhere within walking distance as well, if you like to walk.
Reminder:
The jam runs from 1:00-3:00 pm this Sunday at the "small pavilion" in Stewart Park (near the kiddie playground, pictured here: http://canaaninstitute.org/mikesmusic/viewtopic.php?p=1678#1678 ). I'll be there by 1:00 but I hope to get there earlier (maybe by 12:30).
Keep on pickin'!

Hello all,
The biweekly Ithaca bluegrass jam will meet at Longview this Friday,
September 12, 6:30 - 8:30 pm.
For those of you who haven't been up to Longview yet, it is a nice
retirement community just off of Rte. 96B. The residents look
forward to each of our jams. From downtown Ithaca you'll want to head
up the hill towards Ithaca College. Less than a mile beyond the main
entrance for Ithaca College (which will be on your left), you will
see a driveway and a sign on your right for Longview. There is a
visitor parking lot at the end of the driveway. From the main
entrance, the jam takes in a large entertainment room down the main
hallway and to the left.
This is a casual jam where we typically form a circle, suggest tunes,
and take a turn soloing if we feel like it. All skill levels are
welcome, and feel free to bring along extra audience members as well
as musicians!
Keep on pickin',
