You've seen Mike's and Marty's notes about
upcoming YFN opportunities; here's a few more.
I hope to see lots of you at all the events.
-ted
Waltz Jams at Bethel Grove
--------------------------
We continue with the First Friday Waltz Jams on
May 14. Hmmm, yes, that's a Second Friday, but
we're back to the first week in July and August.
Play waltzes from 7 to 8pm at Bethel Grove. Dance,
too, if you like. The dancers sure appreciate the
music! 1825 Slaterville Road, on NYS Rt.79, about
4 miles east of the Ithaca Commons.
Ithaca Festival
---------------
Mike has set up a jam tent on Sunday.
I submitted the usual offer to play for dancing
during the Festival, but --for the first time that
I can remember-- the Festival chose not to take us
up on it. Sigh, their loss.
Mondays on the Ithaca Commons
-----------------------------
Every Monday, starting June 7, until the weather
gets cold in late September. 7:30-10pm on the
Ithaca Commons.
This is the "big band" event season. In recent
years we've almost always had 15-20 musicians,
sometimes as many as 30. The music officially
begins at 7:30, but some folks arrive a little
early to play informally. Dancing starts at 7:30
or whatever informal time the dancers arrive.
Dryden Dairy Days on Saturday, June 12
--------------------------------------
We're on the schedule again! Starting time about
1pm, more info to follow. This event, in Montgomery
Park in Dryden (behind the Dryden Hotel) offers
a fun time, playing in the bandstand for dancers
out front!
Ted

I hope to see lots of you at all the events.
I'd appreciate some kind of heads-up if you're planning
to attend on 6/12...got to make sure we have a something
between a quorum and a packed house...similarly, 7/10.
Thanks!

Here's a last reminder about the Dryden Dairy Days event
coming up tomorrow, Saturday, 12-Jun. Note the addition
of rain info, below.
Also, there is a possibility of a gig on a Thursday evening,
5-7pm at the Danby Farmer's market. Lots of Thursdays in the
summer. Anyone interested in playing for such? Let me know
and I'll investigate open dates.
Anyone else have gig ideas? Follow through on your own,
or contact Mike or me.

from Ted Crane:
Here's a last reminder about the Scottish Games event
coming up tomorrow, Saturday, 10-Jul. Note the addition
of parking info!
Mondays continue through the summer, on the Commons, 7:30-10pm.
There are a number of dates open at the Danby Farmer's
Market, Thursdays, 7/22, 7/29, 8/5, 8/12, 8/19, 8/26.
Anyone interested in playing for such? I've heard that
the first three dates aren't good for some (might
be good for others, I dunno...) so let's concentrate on
8/12, 8/19, 8/26?
Let me know your interest, and I'll tie down a date or two.
Anyone else have gig ideas? Follow through on your own,
or contact Mike or me.

We're on the schedule again! Starting time about
1pm. This event is being held in Stewart Park this
year (yay! close to home!). We're on the schedule
early in the day, when the crowds are big.
Pamela is taking the responsibility for organizing
this one. We have about 6 parking passes for you.
We'll bring them to the Friday dance (tonite), at
Bethel Grove.
Parking will be in the lot at the east end of
Stewart Park (on the right as you drive in), it's
a lot more convenient than other parking places!
Carpooling is encouraged.
If you can't make it to Bethel Grove to pick one up,
we'll have them at Danby Fun Days (Rt.96B, Danby)
tomorrow morning, and then Pamela will take them
down to the Park.
Mondays on the Ithaca Commons

We continue with the First Friday Waltz Jams on
Friday, August 6.
Play waltzes from 7 to 8pm at Bethel Grove. Dance,
too, if you like. The dancers sure appreciate the
music! 1825 Slaterville Road, on NYS Rt.79, about
4 miles east of the Ithaca Commons. And then you
can stick around for the contra dance!
It's likely that there'll be an August date for YFN
to play for the contra. Stay tuned. _________________ Michael Ludgate - forum administrator

Mondays continue through the summer, on the Commons, 7:30-10pm.
If there is interest, we can take one of the remaining
dates at the Danby Farmer's Market, Thursdays: 8/12, 8/19, 8/26, 5-7pm
I've had some response, but let's hear from you again. Please?
We've also been offered a date at the Ithaca Farm/City Day.
It's on Saturday, 8/14. Time is flexible, but I would
suggest Noon-2pm. The location is easy to get to:
Sweyolakin Farm on Bostwick Road, west and uphill of the
Elmira Road "plastic food" strip. Please give me a shout
on this one.
Anyone else have gig ideas? Follow through on your own,

We have a critical mass, but please RSVP to me if you can make it!
Danby Farmer's Market
---------------------
Thursday, 8/19, 5-7pm. This is the ultimate in
laid-back gigs. Just -thiiisss- far from being
a jam. And, hey, maybe you take home some fine
products from the Danby Farmer's Market. Maybe
some jam?
The Market is near the Fire Station on Rt.96B,
in the Town of Danby, a short couple miles south
of Ithaca College.
Anybody who'd like to, can join Pamela and me for
a walk around "Slow Lane", just after the gig. It's
not far from the Fire Station. Wear shoes and socks.

From Ted Crane:
Waltz Jam, Today, Friday, September 3
-------------------------------------
All the usual wonderful vibes in Bethel Grove,
as we play from 7-8pm for a Waltz Jam. Bring
an instrument, bring your feet, and pass the
word that friends and folks can also bring
either...or both.
Hang out after the waltzing for some contras
with Hope, Kathy, and John playing!
Bethel Grove Community Center, 1825 Slaterville Road
(NYS Rt.79, about 4 miles east of the Ithaca Commons).
Next Waltz Jam, Friday, October 1.
S L O W L A N E Party, Sunday September 5
------------------------------------------
You've probably received the previous mailing,
inviviting you'all out to Pamela's and my place
in Danby, this Sunday. Noon-Dusk (we used to say
"dark" but, really, it gets /very/ dark out there).
If you Google for directions, 814 Comfort Rd, Ithaca, NY.
But the house is abandoned, so walk down the dirt road
and watch for Slow Lane on the right.
Bring instruments, chairs, food, games, and all the rest...
Mondays on the Ithaca Commons
-----------------------------
Every Monday, starting June 7, until the weather
gets cold in late September. 7:30-10pm on the
Ithaca Commons.
We're in the home stretch now, perhaps two or
three more Mondays. The number of dancers drops
off when it gets chilly, and our hands begin to
feel numb when it's below 65. But, it's still
above 65, so come on down!
This is the "big band" event season. In recent
years we've almost always had 15-20 musicians,
sometimes as many as 30. The music officially
begins at 7:30, but some folks arrive a little
early to play informally. Dancing starts at 7:30
or whatever informal time the dancers arrive.
