Hello! Just sharing some info about an event that's coming up in March! Annie Ol Thyme will be providing music from 1:00-3:00, maybe longer...depending on how many heads need shaved! (Sorry, but Mine won't be one of them)

Trish

=====

Be a HERO for Kids with Cancer……

Go ahead – throw vanity out the window. We dare you to experience the boldness of being bald while raising funds for life-saving childhood cancer research.

As of this writing there are 13 people signed up to have their heads shaved at the St. Baldrick’s Event at the Candor American Legion on March 14th. WE NEED MORE HEADS to shave. Men, Women, Teens and Children around the globe shave their heads each year to show solidarity with the 160,000 kids diagnosed with cancer each year.

The Candor American Legion Family and Candor EMS are proud to host a St. Baldrick’s Event in Candor on March 14th. This event will take place at the Candor American Legion beginning at 1:00 and ending at 5:00.

Speaking to past participants having no hair saves much time primping in front of the mirror every morning – Do it on a dare or dare someone to do it – think of the funds YOU could raise with a price tag on your shave and it's all to help save kids from cancer.

But shaving your head may not be for everyone. Come cheer on the brave “shavees.” Enjoy some good traditional American / Celtic and original music by Annie Ol’ Thyme and tunes from DJ Remix. Food will be available along with raffles.

If you have any questions contact Diane at 659-4724, Kelly at 659-5450, or Kim at 659-9964. Visit www.stbaldricks.org to see what it is all about. To register go to event / find an event and put in candor. Donations are accepted on that page also.

NO! The Candor Jam!

That's right, the Candor Jam is starting up again May 6 with a new monthly schedule and a new location! We will be meeting monthly at the Congregational Church on Main Street in Candor at 7:30 p.m. We are looking forward to seeing lots of old friends and making new ones!

Directions: The Candor Congregational Church is located at 134 Main Street, Candor. The church is just south of the Candor Village Hall and the Candor Free Library which are located on the corner of Main and Bank Streets in Candor.

Looking forward to seeing you there!

REMINDER!

The Candor Jam is starting back up again THIS THURSDAY, May 6, at the Congregational Church in Candor NY. We will start music at 7:30 with kid-picks first so families with youngsters can share the jam experience before they have to go home to bed.

The Church is next door to the library/town hall building on the east side of Main Street a few yards past 96's western turn to Spencer. The funeral parlor is across the street.

Come help us celebrate the promises of spring and making music together!
Light snacks and beverages will be available.

Carrie, Cheryl, Phil, Bob and Dick

Candor Jam Update - Next Jam June 10 - Candor Congregational Church

Hello One and All!

Those of you who joined us at the Congregational Church the beginning of May know that the room has wonderful acoustics AND that it was a packed house. Great musicians, great music, a few youngster fiddlers to get us started, and some old jammers we have not seen in years. It was an all around GREAT evening!

Those of us who gathered, voted to meet next time on June 10. That is the SECOND Thursday in June. The date change is to avoid the Ithaca Festival, that local music extravaganza that many of us enjoy in one way or another. We hope that those of you who missed us last time will get to this next one. We hope that the schedule change does not mess up your calendar. Please note that on the tenth we will decide on a date for July. The holiday and fireworks may interfere with the first Thursday. After that we promise to settle down!

Please join us in making the venerable rafters of the Congregational Church community room ring!

Carrie, Cheryl, Phil, Bob and Dick

The next jam is July 8.

Celebrate Independence Day to the fullest, enjoy the fireworks, parade, sun, swimming and family picnics. Then... come to the Candor Jam! We next meet at 7:30 on July 8 in the Congregational Church fellowship hall at the back of the church. The door is off the ample parking lot. Come sing, play and spend time with friends Hope to see you there!

Hi Fellow Jammers!
I have just gotten back from a great week's vacation. My scouts tell me that about 15 brave souls were not deterred by last week's brain numbing, finger melting heat and came to the Candor Jam. I could not be more delighted!!

Just for clarification, the next jam will be on August 5 at 7:30 in the community room of the Candor Congregational Church. I have been assured by the Advanced Weather Warning System (aka my mother!) that it will be a cooler night.

Come and celebrate the HOTTEST JULY on record with a cool August jam at the Candor Congregational Church on August 5 at 7:30.
Anyone wanting a swim first is welcome to drop by our place (482 Dry Brook Rd) and bring a picnic if you wish. The pond is warmer than ever. After such a hot month are you surprised?
We will host an August picnic but the date is still settling down, stay tuned for further details.
Carrie and Dick

Happy Fall Jammers!
This weekend is the Newark Valley Apple Festival with all that GREAT music. Next week is the Candor Fall Featival. Wow! The mild September has fooled me into almost thinking that summer is lingering. But these grand events scream out that fall is here!
In between these Tioga County fall favorites, why not come to Candor and make a little music? The Candor Jam is next Thursday, October 7 at 7:30 in the Congregational Church next to the Town Hall/Library building. I look forward to seeing all of you!
Carrie

REMINDER!!!!!

November's Candor Jam is just around the corner.....next week to be exact. So remember to vote on Tuesday and come celebrate the occasion 2 days later. Maybe your favorite candidate prevailed and you'll bring songs of joy. Perhaps your guy went down to defeat and you'll seek solice in song after trying beer the night before. In any case, COME, bring a friend and a song to share. I'm looking forward to it and hope you are too!

Happy Holiday Season!

Thanksgiving is behind us. Hanukkah begins on Thursday. Solstice, Christmas, New Year's are not far away.

Come and take a break from your turkey leftovers and seasonal preparation and SING! It is a great way to heal whatever ails you. We welcome whatever style of music you like to share. Choruses help the singers sing along but are certainly not required.

December's Candor Jam is scheduled for Thursday December 2 at 7:30 at the Congragational Church. The church fathers (and mothers I assume!) have decided to remain open to us through the winter months providing a warm pleasant spot to meet. I am quite grateful for that.

Having just laid out the holidays I note that our sing coincides with the first night of Hanukkah and I'm a bit uncomfortable with that. Thinking about who has been coming recently I do not think that is an issue for many. But I'm sure it is a problem for some. I apologise for that but it seems rather late to change the schedule.

Looking forward to seeing you ALL on Thursday!

Carrie,
Thanks for thinking of the Chanukah-celebrating members! I am honored to have had top billing in the list of holidays celebrated. You might feel better knowing that although your calendar probably lists the 8 days of Chanukah as starting with Thursday, you can note that every Jewish holiday starts at sundown, the night before the first day, so the first night of Chanukah, the first night we light the candles on the Chanukah menorah, is actually Wednesday night, even though Thursday is the first day. Does that help?
Debra
