Last year, there was some great jamming at this party. Some of the areas best contra dance musicians were there, just hanging out with instruments!! -Mike
From Ted and Pam ...
Here's a reminder (as if you could forget) about
this Saturday's event. Please feel free to forward
to other music folks (Mike?) who enjoy a chance to
get together and play, or eat, or walk around, or hang out!

S L O W L A N E Party, Saturday, September 3
------------------------------------------
Welcome to the
Second Annual Slow Lane Between-The-Birthdays
event. Pamela and I are inviting you'all out to
our place in Danby, this Saturday, September 3.
Noon-Dusk (we used to say "dark" but, really,
it gets /very/ dark out there).
Help us celebrate the halfway point between our
August and October birthdays. No gifts, please,
just you and yours. And it's a'gonna be close to
the groundbreaking date for our new house, so we'll
celebrate that with you, too!
Bring instruments, chairs, food, place settings, games,
and all the rest... (hint, badminton and bocce would be fun)
Last year, we had almost something like a hundred
folks show up during the day, in a brisk early-autumn
weather. This year, the prediction is for a high around 80,
a nice breeze, about 60% relative humidity, and 50% sky
cover. In other words, a nice day. If the 40% chance of
rain runs badly, the rain date is Sunday, September 4.
If you Google for directions, "814 Comfort Rd, Ithaca, NY."
But the house itself is gone (as of today), so just
park park and walk down the dirt part of Comfort Road.
Watch for the Slow Lane sign on the right, then walk out
the newly installed driveway. Yes, the rumor is correct,
it's about 1700' out.
We strongly recommend sturdy shoes and socks. There's roots
and vines reaching out to grab your feet and ruts waiting
for your ankle. Both Pamela and I have picked off ticks, too
(no fuss, just be aware).
You don't have to hang with the crowd all day, 'cause
there's miles of walking trails through fields, woods,
ravines (a.k.a., tiny gorges), and hillsides (if you
go down to West Danby, it's a long climb back up!).
We'll have a few tables, some chairs, an Igloo full of
cold refreshment, probably water, and one or two Igloos
with ice for other "needs cold" stuff. Or bring your own!
For info, contact us, 607.273.8678 or [slowlane_invite@tedcrane.com].
We hope to see you there!
-ted and pamela
PS: if the long driveway is an obstacle, talk to us.
We can arrange transportation. _________________ Michael Ludgate - forum administrator
