The Binghamton January Forth Friday Fiddlin's Fun Jam is on for 1/27/12. We start at 7:30 and go till about 10. I'll gladly update/add/remove anyone from this list that asks.

The February Forth Friday Fiddlin's Fun Jam is on for 2/24/12.

We start at 7:30 and go till about 10.

And, Fiddlin's Fun will be hosting a traditional acoustic jam for First Friday in March at the Roberson Museum and Science Center located at 30 Front Street in Binghamton. The jam will start at 6:00 and continue until 8:30. Visit their website for directions and information: http://www.roberson.org/
I encourage all to join in for this jam even if you know only a few tunes. We'll use the same tune list as several times before.

Also, the NYS Old Tyme Fiddlers Association dues are coming due on March 1st. Dues run annually March 1st of every year and renewal or new membership is easy.
Single Memberships are only $15.00, Family Memberships only $25.00 per
year. Membership includes $4.00 towards our local chapter of Fiddlin's
Fun. The NYSOFTA newsletter can be mailed to you or you can receive it
by e-mail too. Interested in a lifetime Membership? Several of our group
have lifetime memberships. If you are 70 or older, lifetime fee is only
40.00. Age 60-69, only $80.00.

To register or renew, we need your Name, address, phone number and e-mail if you have one. You can mail it to: M McPhee, 1957 NY State Route 12, Binghamton, NY 13901 Marueen will have forms for membership at all the Jams, and will collect money there also.

NYS Fiddle champion Phil B in giving a workshop on 4/22. *see details below.
The April 4th Friday Fiddlin's Fun Jam is 4/27.
The 3rd Roberson Museum Jam will be May 4th.
The May FF Jam is 5/25 (5th Friday due to Schedule conflicts)
The June FF Jam will be on June 29th.
The Mumford Fiddler's fair is August 18-19

(from Phil:) Phil Banaszak plays fiddle, mandolin and guitar, and sings. A New York State fiddle champion and member of the North American Fiddlers Hall of Fame.

The Canal Street String Band will be doing two events in the Ithaca area this Sunday - hope you can make it to one or both!

Sunday, April 22
* 2pm-4:30pm, workshops at Canaan Institute, Brooktondale NY - Dave and Phil will be giving fiddle and NYS tunes workshops
* 8:30, 9:30 and 10:30pm - Cafe at Anabel Taylor Hall, Cornell University on Bound for Glory - this is a free live concert (three half-hour sets) that's broadcast locally on WVBR and worldwide on the internet

The May First Friday's Roberson jam is cancelled. They are having other music, a Cellist etc., the details I've missed. We are on for June 1st. We can pick 6 or 6:30 to start and we'll go to 8:30.

I encourage all to join in for the June jam even if you know only a few tunes. We'll use the same tune list as several times before.

I met Paul Cranford when I was in Cape Breton. Silly me, I didn't recognize this famous publisher because I'm too lazy to read the Publisher info in most books I've bought- lesson learned. Paul's wife ran a tourist venue in NS where my wife was shopping.
