There were a couple of tunes int the F set where I could not get the
melody into the G to G range without changing the octave transposition
within a phrase, something I did not attempt to do.
I'm not sure about the normal range for most Bflat instruments, so
some of the transcriptions may not be playable as they are. If I
get feedback from clarinet or trumpet (or tenor sax) players I can
probably do some tweaks.

| Quote: | Mike - Attached is an update of "Cat Out of the Bag" with the key signature
set to G (E minor). In the YFN suppliment it is in the key of C, but
that is clearly wrong. I have a version that was handed out on a Wed
with the one sharp penciled in .... -Wash |

|
|
Hi Mike,
At her workshop Kathy Selby said that she keeps index cards with the
beginning measures of each tune as a memory aid. That sounded like a
good idea and I thought that it might be a good tool for helping to
memorize the tunes (often I draw a blank when starting a tune, but if
I can get going my fingers often "remember" the rest).
The attached pdf gives the first two measures of both the A and B
parts for most of the original YFN tunes. I hope do some of the
supplementals too, but have not gotten to them yet.

That reminds me, one of the fiddlers sent this in. It is the table of contents for the YFN tunes plus supplement with the new page numbers and the KEY of the tune in spreadsheet format so you can SORT by key! Cool huh?
"D tunes", "A tunes", etc ...
