Hi folks.
There will be a Candor Jam this Thursday - JUNE 7- at 7:30 p.m. at
the Berg Home for those who can make it! The last email said June
14th. We skipped last Thursday because of the Ithaca Festival - May
31st.

Here is the correct jam schedule - based on our discussions at the
last jam on May 17 -

June 7 - jam at 7:30 p.m.

June 21 - jam at 7:30 p.m. and then every two weeks from then on.

Dear Musical friends,

It is that time again! Summer and time for the annual porch sing at Dick and Carrie's house.
Thursday July 19
We are really looking forward to it and hope you are too. As usual, we'll make spiedies with venison and pork (you get to pick your favorite!), pita breads and plenty of lemonade and iced tea. You all bring the rest, and don't figure the spiedies mean we need less, we don't! The first year we basically ran out of food. We'll plan to eat around 6 so we can get to music by 7:30. Please come early and take a swim, the pond is already a great temperature, or check out the gardens or Dick's shop. We welcome anyone anytime from 5:00 on.

For anyone who is new, we live at 482 Dry Brook Rd., 2.4 miles from the southern end of the road. The house is yellow with brown trim. It is on the left hand side, and there is parking before or after the big red machine shed on the other side of the road. Dry Brook runs north off Gridleyville Crossing road. If you come on 96 B it is the first right. If you come on 96 from Spencer, it is the second left (the first is very close by!). If anyone needs better directions, just zip me off a note! Should you get stuck or lost, our number is 659-5003

Letting us know your plans helps us know how much meat to marinate and how many chairs to set out, so please RSVP, Also, please send this message off to anyone who you have seen at one of our gatherings whose e-mail address is not on this list, the list seems to have dropped some friends. Then go ahead and invite a friend or two, "the more the merrier." Thanks for your help.

I hope you are enjoying your summer!
Carrie and Dick

Hi Everyone,
We've heard from a few people and July 5 is not a good date for some people for the next jam. If you are able to make the July 5 jam, send an email by tomorrow night (Saturday) and let us know you are coming. If July 5 isn't a good time, we will skip that night and hold the next jam at Carrie's and Dick's on July 19.

Don't forget the Cotton Mill Girls will be at the Ithaca Farmer's Market Sunday, July 1.

Sarah Stark is hosting the next Cornell Folksong Society Sing on July 14. Check this link for information:

Hi Everyone,
We have decided to cancel the July 5th jam because a lot of people are not able to make it.

The next jam will be July 19 at Carrie and Dick's house. Email Carrie at carriek@pronetisp.net for directions.

Sarah Stark is hosting the next Cornell Folksong Society Sing on July 14. Check this link for information:

Hello Everyone!
This is a reminder that the annual porch sing/Candor Jam will be at Dick and Carrie's house this Thursday, July 19. Please let Carrie and Dick know if you are coming so they can plan. Carrie and Dick said they realize some may have a conflict because of the Grassroots Festival and said they would also consider having another porch sing sometime this summer. Let them know what you think and get possible dates to them!

Here is the information for this Thursday from Dick and Carrie's original invitation:

As usual, we'll make spiedies with venison and pork (you get to pick your favorite!), pita breads and plenty of lemonade and iced tea. You all bring the rest, and don't figure the spiedies mean we need less, we don't! The first year we basically ran out of food. We'll plan to eat around 6 so we can get to music by 7:30. Jam Etiquette -- Please remember, if you are excited about your style of traditional music, you have to be patient, polite and inclusive if you want other musicians to gain your enthusiasm and earn your respect! This goes for any genre: Old-time, Bluegrass, Irish, Québécois or whatever!! Specifically what I am referring to is the tendency I have seen occasionally at some jams to make jokes or snide remarks about other styles of traditional fiddling. A musician new to your jam could be really awesome at Irish and be clueless about old-time or song circles for example … so, if you want the talented but new to your genre musicians to enjoy the style that you love you have to be nice to them! Yeah, it’s that simple … kind of a golden rule of music jams. – end of rant Smile
