NPR: Youth Flock To Contra Dancing — Contra dancing has been around since the 1700s. If you don’t know it — it’s kind of like square dancing but with long lines of dancers. The dance is having a renaissance around the country thanks to a thriving youth scene and incredibly lively acoustic music. 2. The dance is on! Feb 08

We’ve had a number of inquiries from dancers, asking whether
there’ll be a dance at the Bethel Grove Community Center tonite.
Yes, there is. 8pm, 1825 Slaterville Road, Ithaca, NY. That’s
NYS Rt.79, about 4 miles east of the Ithaca Commons. That’s the
Community Center, not the Bible Church.

The band is a great combo going by the name, “Notes Inegales.”
Adrea Katz (fiddle), Margaret Ball (fiddle), Sophie Orzechowski
(fiddle, piano, accordian), and Mr.Michale Ludgate (mandolin,
    banjo, and fiddle, too).

OK, we know it’s snowing. You’ll want to be very careful during
your travel. But, in Ithaca, only about 1″ is expected before
the dance, and only about 4″-6″ total for the entire storm.
