I have sent out invitations for the readers of this BLOG to become authors. It works through your browser so it does not matter if you have a Mac or PC or whatever. You should have a good internet connection and the latest version of your favorite browser. That’s all!

I think this will broaden the usefulness of this local music web space. http://canaaninstitute.org/mikesmusicblog/

Some of you have already responded with a “yes” … awesome! Did you get a username and password yet? Email me to get one! michael@canaaninstitute.org

For security reasons only the admin (me) can add new users and authors. Once you email me a user name and password, I will set you up. The user name will show on all your posts … like mine shows “Mike_L” next to my posts. Actually you can change it under “profile” once I key in your info.

If you already replied and sent me a username and password. You should be able to log in now.

If you are cautious, you can go in and change the password yourself anytime or email it to yourself if you forget it. Look under “my profile” …

There is a help file here http://codex.wordpress.org/Getting_Started_with_WordPress#Posting_in_WordPress which you can also get to in the upper right corner of the writing screen.

So … if you have your username and password, try logging in and poking around and making a post and editing it etc … if I invented a password for you, you should change it once you get in.

Log In - http://canaaninstitute.org/mikesmusicblog/wp-login.php (lower right corner of the BLOG menu if not prompted automatically)

Write - You should go to “DASHBOARD” right after log in, but to get to there later … see lower right menu item above “log in”- the clicke “Write” in the upper left corner, then a window should open with an interface similar to a web based email, like Gmail in rich text mode, but richer!

Save -

Publish! - Go look and see how it came out … click “edit this post” anytime you are logged in to fine tune!

Writing guidelines: Please stay on the topic of music however it relates to you (or also making these kind of blogs more useful - like technical writing suggestions) …  keep the articles brief - better to post a paragraph today and another tomorrow etc… this will keep folks clicking and reading our posts … thanks! :-)

See the category “writing for this BLOG” for more tips …

COMMENTS — You do not have to be registered as an author to comment. The BLOG may ask you for your email address, that is just so I can tell it is not spam …

If you want to write a real article though, ask for a username and password, i can set it up quickly!

Thanks!
Mike
