CHERRYHOLMES
America's first family of Bluegrass"
America's first family of Bluegrass, Cherryholmes, brings their
hard-driving instrumentals and dynamic harmonies to the Clemens
Center in Downtown Elmira for one performance only on Wednesday,
April 1, 2009, at 7:30 p.m. For tickets contact the Clemens Center
Box Office at 607-734-8191 or
800-724-0159 or visit www.clemenscenter.com Half-price tickets are
available in selected sections at $20 and $12.50.
Cherryholmes first stormed the top of the bluegrass world since
winning the 2005 IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association)
Award for Entertainer of the Year. Their self-titled album received
a 2006 Grammy Nomination for Best Bluegrass Album and their second
Grammy-nominated album "Black and White" came in at No. 1 on the
Billboard's Bluegrass Albums chart.
The Cherryholmes sound is made up of hard-driving instrumental
virtuosity and explosive vocal harmonies, featuring a mixture of
original songs written by members of the band and carefully chosen classics.
All six band members pull their creative ideas together, forming a
sound and a style that is unmistakably Cherryholmes. Their live
shows include twin fiddles, Irish step-dancing, classic country
yodeling, old-time claw hammer banjo, even
some soulful gospel singing in addition to their dynamic bluegrass.
Their vocals and instrumentation are aggressive without losing the
precision of smooth, blended family harmony.
