The Winter Village Bluegrass Festival begins just one week from this
Friday!!  Following are some updates and details of the upcoming festival.

*Performances*
WVBF features the *Claire Lynch Band* on Friday and Saturday night with the
*Terry Burns-Ron Kristy Band* opening on Friday night and *Cornerstone*, the
*Jesse Alexander Band* and *Rebecca Colleen and the Chore Lads* opening on
Saturday night.  There will also be music on Saturday afternoon from 2 –
5pm, featuring *John Cadley and the Lost Boys*, *Cornerstone* and *Molly &
the Motonix*, and on Sunday morning from 10am – 12 noon featuring *Rebecca
Colleen and the Chore Lads* and *John Cadley’s Band*.  All performances will
be held in an intimate 150 seat room with cash bar and lounge overlooking
the performances.  Sound will be provided by the excellent duo of Will
Russell(www.wilburland.com) and Dana Paul.

*Bluegrass** U*
Ithaca prides itself on being an education town and WVBF is no exception.
The Claire Lynch Band will be presenting free, one hour instrumental, vocal
and band workshops on Saturday morning beginning at 10am with a fiddle
workshop by Jason Thomas, guitar by Matt Wingate, and vocal workshop by
Claire Lynch.  At 11am the Claire Lynch Band will present a band workshop.
At 1pm, after a lunch break, Jason Thomas will present a mandolin workshop
and Mark Schatz a bass session.  Andy Alexander, Pickin in the Pasture
Promoter, will lead a banjo workshop at 1pm.  Locations will be announced in
festival program.  A weekend pass or jam pass will be required to attend
workshops.

Small master classes with the Claire Lynch Band will be  from 3 – 5pm on
Saturday in fiddle (Jason Thomas), singing (Claire Lynch), guitar (Matt
Wingate) and bass (Mark Schatz)  Classes will require a 4 person minimum and
will not exceed 8.  Master classes cost $50 and checks should be made out in
advance to the master class teacher and sent to WVBF (Call to reserve
space). If the class is not held, checks will be refunded.

*Accommodations*
La Tourelle is now filled with bluegrass pickers and fans.  Call La Tourelle
Resort (607-273-2734 or 1-800-765-1492 toll free) to register for the
festival and they will send you contact information for the Holiday Inn,
located nearby in downtown Ithaca, the Country Inn and Suites, or other
local hotels, motels and B&B’s.  You can also check out VisitIthaca.com for
travel information or call the County Visitor Center at 607-273-1313.

*The Scene*
Hotel check in begins at 2pm.  The festival will open on Friday evening at
5pm with a reception in the La Tourelle lobby with acoustic music by Rebecca
Colleen and the Chore and a cash bar serving Ithaca Beer and Finger Lakes
wines.  A dinner buffet by Samantha Izzo of Simply Red Bistro will be served
at 6pm.  On Saturday evening at 5pm, Ithaca’s own Notorious Stringbusters
will provide music for the lobby happy hour, followed again by a dinner
buffet by Samantha.

Some amazing acoustic instruments will be on display and for sale throughout
the weekend from our festival sponsors *Bernunzio Uptown Music* and *Ithaca
Guitar Works*. Rumor has it that there will be a outdoor campfire for those
hardy Upstaters dreaming of summer in a Lodi pasture. Finally, it is worth
mentioning once again that La Tourelle is a *very nice place*, Ithaca’s
greenest and most generous, community-minded hotel.  We are very pleased to
be here!!

*Announcing the WVBF Raffle*
There will be a raffle at the festival featuring a Ithaca Stringed
Instrument acoustic electric violin bridge by Eric Aceto (as used by Darol
Anger, Jean Luc Ponty and others), a beginning acoustic Fender guitar outfit
donated by Ithaca Guitar Works, a fret dressing by Finger Lakes Guitar
Repair and tickets to Grey Fox, Pickin in the Pasture, Finger Lakes
Bluegrass Association and Valley Folk events.  In addition, LaTourelle has
donated a weekend getaway package that includes an overnight and spa
treatments for two.  Tickets will be available only at the festival and the
drawing will be Saturday night, before the Claire Lynch Band set.  Raffle
tickets will cost $2 for one and $5 for three and you can place your tickets
in the prize bin of your choosing.
