Hello bluegrass jammers,

It's time again for the biweekly Ithaca Bluegrass Jam at Longview TONIGHT
6:30 - 8:30 pm!

We will continue to stick with the “Bluegrass Jam Rules”: since this is a
bluegrass jam, we’re encouraging folks to pick selections that are bluegrass
or at least can be played in the bluegrass style. There are very few
bluegrass jams in the Ithaca area, so it’s important to keep this one on
track.

Here is an interesting article on general jam etiquette. This article also
helps explain the different traditions of jamming

Directions to Longview: For those of you who haven't been up to Longview
yet, it is a nice retirement community just off of Rte. 96B. The residents
look forward to each of our jams. From downtown Ithaca you'll want to head
up the hill towards Ithaca College. Less than a mile beyond the main
entrance for Ithaca College (which will be on your left), you will see a
driveway and a sign on your right for Longview. There is a visitor parking
lot at the end of the driveway. From the main entrance, the jam takes place
in a large entertainment room down the main hallway and to the left (and
occasionally it takes place in the front lobby if the rec room is busy).

This is a casual bluegrass jam where we typically form a circle, suggest
bluegrass tunes, and take a turn soloing if we feel like it. All skill
levels are welcome, and feel free to bring along extra audience members as
well as musicians!

We are always looking for feedback on this traditional bluegrass jam. Please
send comments and feedback by replying to this email or to Jeffrey Lovell <
bluegrassguy53 at gmail.com>. We are also looking for a volunteers to act as
jam leaders on a rotating basis.

Keep on pickin'!

Calendar:

Fri Jan 21 JAM -- Bluegrass Jam - open jam at LONGVIEW 6:30 - 8:30 pm
every other Friday -- Bluegrass only - all levels welcome! This jam is being
slightly restructured (Starting Oct 1st 2010) to help promote a higher skill
level of pure bluegrass. It is still open and friendly, but the emphasis
will be on bluegrass only ... we will try and have a jam leader at each
session to assist in this transition! Keep on pickin'! :-) MORE INFO
