NEWS FLASH - Next month in Ithaca, Atlantic Crossing (yes, the same group
that headlined at the Flurry), but with ALL four musicians. Two fiddles,
mandolin and bouzouki driving the groove, and an excellent guitar player

ITHACA NY - Apr 28 [ Musicians: There will be JAMMING and WORKSHOPS at this
event. Schedule on pdf file below. ] Hands Four Dancers of Ithaca will host
its fifth Fiddlehead Frolic, a day of music and dance featuring one of the
region's hottest contra dance bands, TUNESCAPE (Tim Ball on fiddle, Rachel
Bell on accordion, Nadine Dyskant on flute, Jodi Austin on keyboard, and
Peter Blue on percussion and nyckelharpa)--a band that "fearlessly explores
the border between traditional music and modern groove." Calling with them
will be the equally fearless Ron Buchanan of Pittsburgh, widely known for
his creative choreography and mind-bending, high-energy squares. We've also
got plenty of hometown talent adding to the fun: contra and waltz sessions
with August Wheat, a square dance session with the Uphill Battle Boys, and
a panoply of skillful local callers. Register in advance and pay the low,

Sat Feb 25    PINE LAKE - Rose Tree (Amy Shapiro, Fiddle, allen lutins,
guitar) 8-11pm Sat Feb. 25.  and will be held in the Vaudevillian at Pine
Lake (1894 Charlotte Creek Road, Oneonta).  Free for Hartwick students
$5-10 donation for others. Hartwick College's Pine Lake Environmental
Campus (outside Oneonta in Davenport Center, NY), sponsored by the Pine

Fri Mar 02    ITHACA NY -  JAM and Waltz: Dancing to a Waltz Jam. This is
CNY's only "waltz jam". It is is an open band playing the "New England
standard waltzes" from The Waltz books (I,II &III). This takes place once
per month at 7:00 pm, first Friday of the Month for one hour preceding the
regular ITHACA NY Friday Contra dance at Bethel Grove Community Center
which starts at 8 pm ... a great warm up for the evening's contra dance.

this month's contra dance, March 2, 2012 with a beginner's workshop at 7:00
pm and open dancing from 7:30 - 10:30 pm. Admission is $7 per person, $20

digest mode is really only useful on busier list-serves. Since I usually
only send one message per day maximum (sometimes only one per week!), it

day. The non-digest version is easier to read because it includes HTML
formatting and the wider screen of text.
