In addition to mostly contra dances taught by David, Katrina Mackey will be teaching some Finnish traditional folk dances. About the Finnish Dance Tunes – Katrina and Michael have been working as apprentices to Richard Koski under a grant from the NYS Council of the Arts since 2018. This is a Folk Arts Apprenticeship program where the Finnish folk music band “Metku” is documenting traditional Finnish-American dance tunes of the Finger Lakes Region with Richard as expert-mentor. They have just applied for their 3rd similar grant with generous assistance from The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes. More at www.metkumusic.org .
